About the event

TIME:  Every Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm

VENUE: South Whidbey Community Center, Room 112

TUITIONS ARE BILLED MONTHLY BASED ON THE NUMBER OF WEEKS SCHOOL IS ON IN THE MONTH.

When you think of math, do you think of playing Yahtzee or Cribbage? Yoga and juggling? Whether you love solving math puzzles or could use some extra practice with your number sense, come play with us!

We practice cooperative and supportive play and keep math fun and social. The challenge level of games adapts to where students are at, incorporating the functions they are familiar with and getting comfortable with mental math fundamentals.  New games will be added to our repertoire each week.

About the instructor

Ariel Starlight is a state-certified teacher with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. She has endorsements in Health/Fitness, Art, and Middle Grades Mathematics. She is currently enrolled in a CTE certificate program and has registered and is waiting for WEST-E testing centers to re-open to add a Middle Grades Humanities endorsement.

Ariel is looking to serve a diverse community of students and families and work with adolescents. She works to help every student be a capable, creative, caring, and responsible member of their community. She supports multi-sensory experiential learning, respectful and productive discourse, and a passion for learning.

Ariel brings her unique skills and passion for teaching into any classroom. She aims to be flexible with shifting needs and continue to pursue additional endorsements and areas of expertise to be able to support students in many subject areas as needed and present an integrated interdisciplinary approach to any subject. Familiarity across many subject areas also is beneficial for collaborating on projects with other teachers to create engaging, high-impact work.

Ariel also has a deep commitment to her students and brings rich, diverse life experiences to her teaching to relate to and inspire students. She has a love of hands-on and discussion-based learning that allows the students to be active participants in their education.
